Was Marcus Aurelius A Camgirl? Lessons In Stoicism and Webcam Modeling
"Sometimes Even To Cam Is An Act Of Courage" - I believe this quote comes from Seneca, who may or may have been a camgirl. Either way, Stoicism has been a wellspring of sage advice for me since I started camming.
Camming is fun, I can honestly say it's the most enjoyable thing I've ever done. At the same time, it's not all upside. Slow days are torturous - - akin to a musician playing to an empty theatre. And it does take a degree of organizational skill and fastidiousness to be able to consistently put out good content and engaging shows.
So it's inevitable that every camgirl has rough days. Sometimes rough weeks, maybe even a rough month. And when going gets tough, the instinctive response is to either curl up in a fetal position or complain.
I've been fortunate enough to never have suffered low periods lasting months, but I've had my slow days, like any other webcam model. Stoicism has been a bulwark against the spiral of negative emotions that we're all prone to during such times, and although I'm far from an expert in Greco-Roman moralism, I've been greatly influenced by both Seneca ("The Shortness Of Life" being a favorite read) and Marcus Aurelius's "Meditations".
I'm not going to bother pontificating on the wisdom of these great men. However, I'm going to transpose their wisdom and their quotes as it applies to camming.
"Difficulties Strengthen The Mind, As Camming Does The Body"
"Begin At Once To Cam, And Count Each Separate Day As A Separate Livestream"
"You Have Power Over Your Camroom, Not Outside Events. Realize This And You Will Find Strength"
